Addiction treatment to Free Hearts Uganda means treatment geared towards help one stop dangerous drug use, be drug free and be productive in the family, at work and in the society.
Addictions are very destructive behavior as all aspects of a person’s life get affected by addiction, this is inclusive of family, work and physical well-being. Society and families are still learning the do-es and don’ts of addictions and what system are present to deal with addictions.
Addiction is characterized by compulsive or uncontrollable use of a drug despite harmful consequences and chances in the brain which can be long-lasting. Addictions also come in forms of compulsive behavior, inclusive of gambling, sex, eating and shopping. Addition is most characterized with constant relapse thus the need for Addiction treatment.
Addiction treatment is a complex but treatable brain training journey. It is never a single treatment as and at Free Hearts. Addiction treatment is inclusive of;
Detoxification
Behavioral counseling
Medication
Evaluation and treatment for co-occurring mental health issues such as depression and anxiety
Long-term follow-up to prevent relapse
Change of environment
We also take on testing clients for HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis and other infectious diseases as well as teach clients steps they can take to reduce their risk of these illnesses. Addiction treatment processes are made with the client in order to have treatment goals that are easy to follow and complete. Our treatment plan also considers the family of the client thus the need for family therapy and the inclusion of group therapy to the treatment process.
